Tech Across the Globe

Apple partners with Anthropic: The iPhone maker has joined with the AI startup on a new version of Xcode, Apple’s programming software, that will use artificial intelligence to write, edit and test code. Apple will use the software internally and hasn’t yet decided whether to launch it publicly.

GTA 6 delay: Take-Two pushed back the release of Grand Theft Auto VI to next year, giving the team more time to finish what’s expected to be one of the most lucrative video games ever. The title, which has missed multiple deadlines, was supposed to be the biggest release of the year. Now, fans won’t get it until May 2026.

UK hacks: A hacking group called DragonForce claimed credit for the recent cyberattacks targeting UK businesses Marks & Spencer, Co-op and Harrods. Co-op, a supermarket chain, said the hackers were able to access and extract customer data from one of its systems during the attack.

Revalued

Lightspeed Venture Partners, which manages $31 billion in assets, is now a registered investment adviser. The VC firm finished a lengthy regulatory process to gain the freedom to invest more capital into assets beyond direct startup equity. It’s also a signal that most of the country’s biggest VCs now have ambitions to expand beyond only investing in startups.

This Week in Soundbite

In this week’s Soundbite, Ashley Carman writes that Joe Rogan remains the No. 1 podcaster in the US based on an exclusive report from Edison Research. While other shows briefly take a run at his top position, Rogan continues to be the biggest podcaster by orders of magnitude. And right now, it doesn’t seem like anyone is legitimately challenging him, she writes. For more of Ashley’s coverage of the music and podcast industry, subscribe here.
