Pong Hau K’i
Learn a new, 2-player, DIY board game to challenge your little one in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Month! It's simple enough for your preschooler to learn. If your child understands how to play Tic-Tac-Toe, they can play Pong Hau K’i!
Materials:
- Ruler
- Paper
- Marker or crayon
- 4 game pieces (2 of same type for each player) such as: buttons, bottle caps, checkers, coins or counting cubes
Instructions:
- Draw your game board with 5 vertices and 7 edges (see first photo) which is essentially an open-top rectangle with an "X" drawn in the middle.
- Players place their markers as shown: player one takes the upper corners, player two takes the lower corners (see first photo).
- The first player moves one of their pieces into the center. Then, players take turns moving pieces until one player has blocked the other from moving (see second photo).
- You can end the game there or keep going for a best of three rounds winner!
