From the PTA
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Let’s take a moment to recognize and thank the amazing teachers at Cherry Run for all they do to support and inspire our children. Please don’t forget to show appreciation for our wonderful specials teachers—art, music, PE, Spanish and library—who play an important role in our students' learning and creativity.
Ways to Show Your Appreciation:
-
Write a note or card – A heartfelt message from a student or parent goes a long way.
-
Have your child draw a picture – Younger students can express their gratitude through art.
-
Send in a small treat or favorite snack – Check if your teacher has a favorites list.
-
Volunteer your time – Offer to help with classroom needs or prep work.
Please also note: Monday, May 12 will be a three-hour early release day.

Music Notes
All music classes are learning about music from around the world during our “Music Brings Us Together” unit. If you have a musical tradition in your family and would like to share it – either live or via video – please reach out to Ms. Wilson (pswilson@fcps.edu).
Cardinal Chorus finished a wonderful year with their performance of “The Binding Tale of Beethoven’s Bookworms” on April 29. We are so proud of all our singers! There is one more singing opportunity this year – watch Talking Points for more details.
Second grade performance: May 21 at 2:00pm.
Third grade performance: June 6 in the afternoon (TBD)
Questions? Please email Ms. Wilson at pswilson@fcps.edu.

Institute for the Arts (IFTA) — For students currently in grades 6-11: IFTA is a two- or three-week summer program where students create a schedule from offerings in visual art, dance, music, theatre, and Health & PE 9 (a graduation requirement). Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA) — For students currently in grades 2-5: E-IFTA is a one-week elementary arts camp for younger students who love to sing, dance, act, and create. Students participate in four daily classes — music, dance, theatre, and visual art — taught by FCPS arts educators who design hands-on, engaging learning experiences.
