For the fashion-obsessed, the first Monday in May can only mean one thing: It’s time for the Met Gala. Every year, the biggest names in art, culture, fashion, film, theater, music, sports, technology, and more gather for the ultra-exclusive, invite-only event that benefits The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. From Rihanna in a canary yellow Guo Pei gown to Cardi B in a pearl-encrusted headpiece, it’s here that fashion history is learned—and made. This year, the theme is Tailored for You, in support of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” so expect to see menswear-inspired looks. There’s so much to look out for: I can’t wait to see what Janelle Monáe, who is no stranger to chic suiting and always delivers on the Met Gala red carpet, wears, or if Beyoncé makes an appearance (she hasn’t been to the Met Gala since 2016). Who will be the belle of the Met Ball? Stay up (fashionably) late with us and find out!
