Haycock Hello 5.5.2025
lllllll

Dear Haycock Families,

Please join us in showing our appreciation for the Haycock teachers and staff this week.  We are beyond fortunate to have such a dedicated group of professionals serving our students and families. ❤️

This week, we begin SOL testing for our students in grades 3-6.  See the specific testing schedule below.  Make sure that your student gets a good night's rest and breakfast before their SOL test.  They have been well prepared by their teachers, and they're ready to do their best.

As the warmer weather has arrived, we ask that you work with your child to ensure that what they wear to school allows them to be comfortable, does not interfere with their learning, and makes sitting on the floor easy for them (during Morning Meeting and often in specials). We appreciate your support with this.

Although it seems like we should be beyond colds and upper respiratory infections, we continue to see cases popping up.  Please make sure that your child is fever free without medication for 24 hours before sending them back to school.

If you haven't done so already, provide your input as we begin working on class placements for next year. Here is the Parent Input Form. Completing the form is optional, and we ask that you do not include teacher requests. The form will remain open until Friday, May 9.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP   krstyles@fcps.edu

Lightspeed Parent Weekly Reports

As a reminder, FCPS offers a free service that allows parents to stay informed about your child's online activity on any FCPS device? By completing the Lightspeed Parent Report Request, enrolling parents can sign up to receive a weekly report summarizing the websites your child visits while using an FCPS device. These reports are delivered directly to a parent's email address over the weekend by Lightspeed, FCPS's internet content filter. Visit the Lightspeed Parent Report page on the FCPS website for more information and directions on how to sign up.

Each weekly report includes a link to register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal, which provides more detailed browsing information. This portal also gives parents the ability to pause internet access on their child’s FCPS laptop during non-school hours, such as dinner or bedtime.

Excellence at the Crossroads

FCPS Budget Update

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will begin finalizing the budget on Tuesday, May 6. The current advertised budget underfunds FCPS by $150 million.

Without new revenue, such as the meals tax (adding just $2-3 to an average dining bill for a family of four), FCPS will face significant cuts.

What Is at Risk?

Go tofcps.edu/crossroads to see examples of where FCPS exceeds minimum state standards.
