Austria and Japan have a long history for shared craftsmanship and quality, which began at the Vienna World Fair in 1873. This new taste for Japanese aesthetics would influence all aspects of European culture for decades to come. Austria’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is a special moment for the two nations. To celebrate this, Monocle’s Tokyo shop will host a special range of Austrian products for six months. The selection includes Feinedinge’s porcelain vases, elegant champagne bowls from Augarten and wool blankets by Lodenwalker, a mill with almost 600 years of heritage. Austrian candles, kitchenware and travel bags sit alongside Monocle’s trademark selection of print, products and collaborations. Available online and in-store at Monocle’s Tokyo shop at 1-19-2 Tomigaya, Shibuya-ku.
