Funding FCPS FY26 Budget: A Critical Investment in Our Students and Educators

Funding FCPS FY26 Budget: A Critical Investment in Our Students and Educators
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is requesting a $268.26 million increase in funding from the Fairfax County Government for FY2026. This funding is essential to meet the needs of our students and educators, with a primary focus on employee compensation, including collective bargaining agreements, special education services, and contract rate adjustments.
The key priorities for the FY26 FCPS budget include:
-
Competitive compensation for all employees (the first year of collective bargaining)
-
Adapting to the evolving needs of Fairfax County's young people
-
Empowering educators to provide personalized, differentiated services to students
-
Sustaining multiyear initiatives that support both students and staff
Without this crucial funding, FCPS faces the prospect of significant cuts that would directly impact the classroom experience for all students.
Key Budget Dates:
-
May 6: Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Budget Markup and Tax Rates
-
May 8: Approved County Budget Presented to the School Board
-
May 13: County Board of Supervisors Adopts Budget & Tax Rates
-
May 13: School Board Public Hearing on Budget
-
May 22: School Board Adopts the Final Budget
-
July 1: FY2026 Begins

Help Us Keep the PTSA Going Strong – We Need New Board Members!
Dear Fairfax High School PTSA Community,
As we look ahead to the next school year, we are reaching out to ask for your help in keeping our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) strong and active. The time has come to elect a new slate of board members, and we need dedicated volunteers to step into these important leadership roles.
Whether you're passionate about building community, supporting our students and staff, or ensuring our PTSA runs smoothly behind the scenes, there’s a role for you!
Below are the main PTSA officer positions. If you're interested in learning about other opportunities, please email us at fmanja75@gmail.com.
President Leads the PTSA and presides over meetings. Coordinates the work of officers and committees to ensure the PTSA's goals are being met. Also serves as an ex-officio member of all committees (except the nominating committee).
Vice President(s) Acts as an aide to the president and steps in when the president is unavailable. Also helps oversee specific PTSA functions or committees.
Secretary Keeps minutes of all meetings, maintains official records (including bylaws and the membership list), and handles additional duties as needed.
Treasurer Manages all PTSA funds, maintains accurate financial records, presents financial reports at meetings, and ensures timely submission of financial forms to the Virginia PTA and IRS.
All-Night Grad Representative Supports planning and coordination for the All-Night Graduation event.
Please note: To hold an elected position, you must be a current PTSA member in good standing.
Serving on the PTSA board is a rewarding way to make a positive impact on our school. It’s also a great way to meet other families, stay informed, and have a voice in the activities and programs we support.
Interested? Have Questions? We’d love to tell you more! Please reply via email at fmanja75@gmail.com if you're interested or would like to nominate someone (with their permission, of course!).
Let’s keep our momentum going – your time and talents can make a real difference!
