Eyes on the Prize(s)
This year’s Pulitzer Prizes for Arts & Letters recognized books by Percival Everett, Marie Howe, Tessa Hulls, and more. In this week’s magazine, we took a look at a trove of new self-help and wellness books, which extoll the benefits of prioritizing rest and nurturing hobbies. Nicole Aschoff has taken the reins at radical press Verso, and HarperCollins has scooped up world all language rights to a thriller cowritten by MrBeast and James Patterson. As AI gets more powerful, it is also producing more and more inaccurate information, reports the New York Times. Following the launch of a new U.K.-based press that will only publish books by men, the Conversation considers the state of male writers and readers. Taking advantage of recent court-mandated changes to Apple’s App Store rules, Amazon has added a “Get Book” button to its iOS Kindle app, reports the Verge. CBS Baltimore talked with frustrated authors who say they were misled by the organizers behind a Baltimore book festival. A growing number of booksellers are branching out into offering coffee, cocktails, and dinner, per CNN. And author Fredrik Backman intimated to USA Today that his latest novel, My Friends, could be his last.
