The U.S. Census Bureau today released a new report that examines geographic mobility in the United States by birth cohorts also known as generations based on 2005 to 2023 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates.
Geographic mobility refers to the movement of people within and across geographic boundaries. Birth cohorts are groups of people born during a specific time frame who pass through life together.
The report shows how geographic mobility varies by birth cohorts. For example, the Millennial Generation had the highest geographic mobility of all birth cohorts across most years.
