Dear Cardinal Families,

With the recent heat wave here I particularly hope you are all staying safe, cool, and hydrated. As the lazy days of summer continue, our team here at Cunningham Park Elementary is already hard at work planning for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. We are incredibly excited to welcome back our returning students and to extend a warm greeting to all our new families joining our school community!

To help you prepare and mark your calendars, we wanted to share some important dates and information that you might find useful:

• Open House
  • Friday, August 15th from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
• First Day of School 
  • Monday, August 18th
    • Doors open for breakfast at 8:20 AM
    • Doors open for all students at 8:30 AM
• Back-to-School Night
  • Wednesday, August 27th from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

We are counting down the days for our Cardinals to return to our nest!

Summer Meals for Students

FCPS’ Summer Meal Service Program provides breakfast and lunch free of charge to all children aged 18 and younger. Check FCPS’ Food and Nutrition Services webpage and the USDA Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder for specific dates, times, and locations. If you have any questions regarding the Summer 2025 meal service, please email SummerMeals@fcps.edu or call 703-813-4800.

Rising Kindergartener Summer Playdates

Our amazing PTA is hosting Summer Playdates on our playground for rising kindergarteners on the following dates and times:

• Friday, July 19th at 10:00 AM
• Friday, August 16th at 10:00 AM.

Summer Resources Help Students Stay Curious, Healthy, and Busy

FCPS’ Summer Resource Guide has activities and tips on a variety of subjects and interests from camps to health and safety resources.
