One last thing: What to bring as an overnight guest |

Staying overnight with friends this summer? Don’t show up empty-handed.
In this edition of The Gift, Wirecutter gifts expert (and excellent houseguest) Samantha Schoech shared a few words of advice on how to nail your next hostess present:
- It should be easy to travel with. Skip the crystal vase or Key lime pie.
- Consider something that you can enjoy together or is themed in some way to your stay. For a recent trip to her friend’s Italian lake house (lucky), Sam brought insulated wine tumblers to encourage lakeside happy hours.
- And if you don’t know your hosts well, opt for something universal. An elevated take on an everyday item they likely wouldn’t buy for themselves can be a good bet.
