![]() ![]() Greetings!Apple TV+ has long been a bit of a mystery. Mainly, why does it exist? For a company used to enjoying 40% to 50% profit margins on its pricey iPhones and MacBooks, the much riskier entertainment world seemed like an awkward fit. But Apple is having a moment, thanks to today's Emmy nominations. It boasted a total of 81 — only behind Netflix and HBO as the company's bet on prestige content paid off in spades. Whether or not being a fan of "Severance" (27 noms) or "The Studio" (23 noms) directly correlates to you buying a new iPhone, however, still remains to be seen. Pond's big takeaways were the two Apple TV+ shows did better than anybody expected, while "The White Lotus" fell short of expectations and fewer new shows were able to get into the mix ("The Studio" and "The Pitt" being exceptions). Final voting doesn't begin for more than a month, so there's still a long road ahead to determine the winners. Here's the full list of nominations. "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert was back from a short break and took aim at his parent, Paramount Global, for the $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump that he called a "fat bribe." It shows he and fellow Paramount star Jon Stewart won't be silenced -- even if their soon-to-be owner, Skydance Media, wants to play nice with the Trump administration.
