While mainstream adoption has lagged behind early expectations, industry leaders point to increased headset shipments and more comfortable, powerful devices as signs of progress. Experts believe the "it" moment for VR will arrive when immersive experiences become a routine part of daily life.
Consumers continue to view streaming video as a good value despite growing concerns about the economy, a study by Hub Entertainment Research reveals. While nearly nine in ten consumers are worried about inflation and a potential recession, they are more likely to cut spending on other forms of entertainment before canceling video subscriptions, Hub reports.

BeReal is attempting a comeback under the ownership of Voodoo, which acquired the app last year. Voodoo has introduced features such as video and chat to try to attract new users and advertisers, and has introduced sponsored content and cost-per-click options. "BeReal is not a platform for reach, unlike Instagram, TikTok or even Snapchat," says Voodoo Managing Director Ben Moore. "It's more about engaging or talking to Gen Z in a meaningful way."
Back-to-school shopping is starting earlier this year, with 67% of families beginning by early July, the highest rate since 2018, largely driven by concerns that tariffs will raise prices, according to a survey by NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics. "Consumers are being mindful of the potential impacts of tariffs and inflation on back-to-school items, and have turned to early shopping, discount stores and summer sales for savings on school essentials," said Katherine Cullen, NRF vice president of industry and consumer Insights.
