Speaking of corporate HR. Look, I know it was forever ago now, but the Philly Phanatic’s lighting-quick reaction to that CEO kiss cam video at the Coldplay concert was note-perfect and awesome. It made this kid, who grew up on the mean streets of Philadelphia (read: the passive-aggressive cul-de-sacs of Philly suburb West Chester, Pa.) proud to be where I’m from.
I got to talk about one of my favorite YouTube channels, Dish, on PCHH this week. But I’ve been spending a lot of time over the past few days mainlining a different podcast belonging to the same tiny genre — British Celebrities Talking About Food. On the Off Menu podcast, comedians James Acaster and Ed Gamble invite a guest to construct their favorite meal by asking them what they’d order at a dream restaurant: Still or Sparkling? Starter? Main Course? Side? Dessert? My love of the British show Taskmaster (another favorite YouTube channel!) has introduced me to many of the guests of both Dish and Off Menu. But being familiar with any given guest isn’t the point of either show, because the hosts on both are so good at drawing out great (read: funny/shocking/puzzling) stories from whomever’s on that week. Also: Because of my love of Off Menu, there’s now a non-zero chance that I will fill any pause in a conversation by screaming “PAPADAMS OR BREAD?!?!”. If you know, you know. |
