| This card is a game changer for my business | by Brian Kelly | | | I haven’t been this excited about getting a new credit card in some time. Not only does the brand-new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ come with a huge 200,000-point sign-up bonus, but it’s a premium business card that also offers luxury travel perks, which are a great fit for my business and how I like to travel.
First, let’s dive into the juicy limited-time bonus offer: New applicants can earn 200,000 bonus points after spending $30,000 in the first six months of card membership.
The value is outstanding
The Ultimate Rewards points alone are worth over $4,000 by TPG’s July 2025 valuations, making this one of the most valuable Chase offers we’ve ever seen.
But lately, instead of transferring my points to hotel and airline partners like I have in the past, I’ve been testing out the new Points Boost feature on Chase Travel℠ and have been getting 2 cents per Chase point when redeeming for luxury hotels, making these points super valuable and even easier to use. (By comparison, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card gets a maximum of 1.75 cents per point in Chase Travel.)
Who’s eligible?
I did need to verify some business income, so it’s not a low-barrier application. But if you’re a business owner with real expenses, consider if it’s right for you and your business needs.
While Chase has strict new rules about who can get the personal Sapphire Reserve, these new rules do not apply to the Sapphire Reserve for Business. Even those who currently hold the personal Sapphire Reserve (like me) are eligible for the sign-up bonus on the business card.
Earning rates
I love that one of my favorite bonus categories to earn points is unlimited on this card — I earn 3 points per dollar spent on advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines with no cap. I currently split all of that category spending between my American Express® Business Gold Card and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, but both have a cap of $150,000 at the higher earning rate, then earn 1 point per dollar. This is a game changer for business owners like me who spend a lot on advertising.
My card strategy is shifting
The Sapphire for Business will be my workhorse card going forward, so in evaluating the other cards in my wallet, I will likely downgrade my personal Sapphire Reserve and get the Sapphire Preferred with the lower $95 annual fee. It earns 2 points per dollar spent on travel (including parking and tolls), and my New York City parking is pretty expensive, so between those points earned and the 10% anniversary bonus points awarded each year, it will more than offset the annual fee. So I think having the Sapphire Preferred as my personal card and the Sapphire for Business for work expenses is my perfect sweet spot.
Travel perks
The Sapphire for Business provides access for the cardholder and up to two guests to Chase’s growing network of lounges, and I get immense value out of using the Sapphire Lounges when I travel. Three of my top airports are Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The lounges are well appointed, and recently, I had a free spa treatment during a visit to the beautiful Sapphire Lounge at LGA.
Bottom line
To say I’m excited about this new card is an understatement. If you’re still trying to decide if the new Sapphire Reserve for Business and its 200,000-point limited-time bonus offer are right for you, check out these additional resources: Have a great weekend,
