It was wonderful connecting with so many students and families during our welcome back events. The first days of school have focused on building classroom community, learning routines and celebrating new beginnings. Just like every good story unfolds one page at a time, consistent attendance ensures your child doesn’t miss a single part of the adventure. We are grateful to partner with you in making this year a story of growth, joy, and success.

Opt In/Opt Out for Early Release Wednesday Childcare
While we anticipate that most students will be dismissed at 12:25pm on limited early release Wednesdays, we recognize that some families may require childcare. These students will be supervised by school-based staff. No new instruction will take place, as after-school care is strictly supervision.
Elementary school parents and caregivers should log in to the Parent Digital Consent system to review and provide consent to a variety of resources and services including Early Release Wednesday Childcare.
- OPT IN if you require childcare on our limited early release Wednesdays.
- OPT OUT if your child will go home (or to childcare arranged with SACC or another provider) at the early release time.
Families need to make their selection in the Parent Digital Consent system by Monday, August 25, to receive care for all early release Wednesdays. If a family needs to change their selection, they should notify our front office at least one week in advance.
Arrival Reminder
Starting Monday, August 25th, all students will walk themselves to class. Please take a moment to review the assigned entrances so you can support your child in building this routine.
Back to School Night - Wednesday, September 10th, 5:30pm-7:00pm
Kings Park’s Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Come join us to learn more about our teachers, the school day, and our instructional programming (Preschool - 3rd grade). More details will be shared in next week’s News You Choose.

Schoology and ParentVUE
Teachers use Schoology to post their classroom materials online and to provide a secure forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects.
A Schoology Parent Account gives you access to:
- Your child’s classes.
- School, class, and group announcements.
To access Schoology, parents will need to have an active SIS/ParentVUE account. Get more information on how to login and use Schoology.

Family Information Phone Lines Available in Nine Languages
Parents/caregivers who speak Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, or Vietnamese may call a telephone information line for general information about FCPS. View the list of phone numbers.
We Are a Phone-Free School!
Student cell phones and personal devices (airpods, earbuds, headsets, other items connected to the internet) must be off and away for the entire school day (bell to bell). Smart watches that serve a dual purpose may be worn, but the phone features (texting, internet viewing, and calls) are to be off when phone use is prohibited.
PTA News and Events
Join the PTA. We hope all members of the KP/KG community will consider joining the PTA this school year. Being a PTA member has numerous benefits -- it's a great way to meet new friends and become more involved in your child's school and community. Join on our website!
Our first meeting, where we will be approving our budget, is coming up on September 10th at Kings Park at 5:00 pm right before Back to School Night in the cafeteria. Please join us and learn about all the exciting things planned for the year!
Want to help with KP/KG PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year? The Booster program starts on September 11th and finishes on September 19, 2025 with the Fun Run. Mark your calendars and reach out to Sarah Maccubbin-Tremper at vpfund@kpkgpta.org if you want to be involved!

Our popular PTA Ice Cream Social and Community Resource Fair will be held at Kings Glen on September 12th at 6:30 pm.
Keep in Touch with the PTA. A great way to keep in touch with the PTA is to subscribe to our emails and/or join our Facebook group. An updated PTA events calendar can also be found here. We will be starting our monthly newsletter in September, which is a great resource to find out more about the PTA. Reach out to board@kpkgpta.org if you have any questions.
Volunteer with the PTA. Volunteering is certainly not a requirement of joining the PTA, but we are always looking for more help! We are looking for some volunteer leads for various positions throughout the year. Check out our openings here.
