Hey dupa

Ever notice that sometimes the more you rest, the more exhausted you feel?

You binge Netflix, scroll TikTok, do “nothing”… and somehow end up more drained than before.

I experienced the same thing when I stepped away from Charisma on Command.

I had all the time in the world to rest…

But I never felt fully recovered.

Then I stumbled on a quote from poet David Whyte that completely changed how I think about exhaustion:

"The cure for exhaustion isn't necessarily rest. The cure for exhaustion is wholeheartedness."

What does that mean?

It means being fully engaged with what you’re doing:

Having purpose, direction, and actually caring about your work and your life.

During my time off, I was still discovering that.

Now?

I'm still discovering that - but as I get closer I feel more connected and more ENERGIZED than I've been in years.

The difference wasn’t JUST rest (though I did need that too).

It was living wholeheartedly.

When you’re not wholehearted, even downtime feels draining. But when you are, everything changes:

The energy comes back…

The excitement returns...

Even your downtime actually restores you.

If you've been feeling tired despite getting plenty of rest, maybe it's not about sleeping more.

Maybe it's about finding what makes you come alive.

And of course, don’t take this as a sign to not rest if you’ve been overworked ;-)

Charlie
