This webinar is part of the series, “The Human Experience of Black People with Disabilities and Their Rights Under the ADA,” which reports on the Mid-Atlantic ADA Center’s research study about how Black individuals with disabilities access information and exercise their rights under the ADA.

 Get Ready with the Community Emergency Preparedness Expo in Fairfax!

The City of Fairfax Office of Emergency Management and the Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management and Security are teaming up to host a free, family-friendly Community Emergency Preparedness Expo.
The day will kick off with an exciting performance by Grammy Award-winning artists 123 Andrés from 10–11 a.m.
Their energetic and engaging show will feature a brand-new song about emergency preparedness. While the kids enjoy the music, parents can explore informational vendor tables to get tips on preparing their homes for unexpected situations.
You’ll leave the event with tools and knowledge to keep your family safe—and maybe even a catchy song stuck in your head! Tickets (free) are required only for the 123 Andrés performance, but the rest of the expo is open to everyone, no ticket needed.

Community Connect is a free, secure, and easy to use platform that allows you to share critical information about your household that will aid first responders and emergency response personnel when responding to your residence. By providing information about your household (pets, children, access and functional needs) that you feel is important for us to know about at the time of an emergency, we can ensure you and everything you care about is protected to the best of our ability.
Any information you provide through Community Connect is completely voluntary and based on what you are comfortable with sharing. The platform has made it easy for you to know what may be important by organizing your secure portal into buckets of information you can enter! Data that you provide in Community Connect is secure and is used only for the purpose of better serving you during emergency situations.

 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program
The Virginia Office for Aging Services, in partnership with FRESHFARM, is proud to offer the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (Senior FMNP) to eligible older adults in Fairfax County. This program provides a $50 benefit to help older adults purchase fresh produce and herbs from participating farmers at local farmers markets. This program encourages healthier lifestyle habits and supports local farmers, creating a win-win for the community.
Interested seniors can apply for the Senior FMNP benefit until September 30.

The Virtual Center for Active Adults helps older adults and adults with disabilities in Northern Virginia fight social isolation. Join to connect with peers, engage in activities, and explore resources through interactive and on-demand programs.
