Joby Aviation and ANA Holdings have formed a joint venture to introduce electric air taxis in Japan, starting in Tokyo. The partnership aims to deploy more than 100 Joby electric air taxis, develop an ecosystem including vertiports and pilot training, and address urban transportation challenges. Toyota Motor is another key partner.
AJet adds Boeing 737 Max 8s to bolster expansion
AJet has taken delivery of two Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft from CDB Aviation, the first of a 12-aircraft deal set for completion by 2026. The aircraft's fuel efficiency and advanced technology will help the carrier compete in the low-cost market, and AJet aims to grow its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2033.

Space Force budget prioritizes advanced technology
The US Air Force and Space Force are prioritizing new weapons and technology in their fiscal year 2026 budgets while planning to cut thousands of civilian jobs and reduce contracting services. The Space Force budget is also set to grow, with an additional 600 troops and enhanced funding for advanced space technologies.
NASA seeks supplier for turbine air motors
NASA is seeking proposals for four turbine air motors for propulsion-airframe integration testing at the Ames Research Center's 11-by-11-foot Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel. The motors, capable of operating up to 20,000 RPM and 170 hp, will be installed on a body-and-wing model to simulate propfan propulsion and analyze aerodynamic performance under high-speed cruise conditions. The procurement includes two primary and two backup units and proposals are due by Sept. 5.
