Projects like CapX2020 have found success because there was “something in it for each one of the utilities ... they all saw somewhat of a common vision,” said Beth Soholt, executive director of the Clean Grid Alliance.
The rule requires Arizona utilities to obtain 15% of retail electric sales from renewable energy resources by 2024. That goal has been met, but advocates say the rule is still needed.
While the administration has moved to strip electric vehicle incentives and cancel some grants, it’s still focused on lithium’s value as a critical mineral for manufacturers.
