Dear City of Fairfax Community,
I hope the first days of school have gone well for your families and for our students. I know that our school teams have been eagerly awaiting the start of the school year, and it was great fun to see everyone reconnect this week.
I have been fortunate to know many of you from my years as an assistant principal at Daniels Run Elementary and as assistant principal and principal at Providence Elementary. I will be the acting superintendent for the City of Fairfax Schools for the next few months, as our school board conducts a search for our next superintendent. I have been the assistant superintendent for several years and appreciate the opportunity to serve your families, our school leaders and staff, and our wonderful community in this temporary role.
I know from my experience in schools and as a parent in our schools how fortunate we are here. Our students get many opportunities from being part of both the City of Fairfax Schools and the Fairfax County Public Schools system. We are grateful to our community for this added layer of support, and we will all work hard this year to be sure all of our students benefit from this unique relationship.
Good things happen in our schools every day. I encourage you to visit the websites and social media pages from our four schools, and to visit our sites as well, to see our students in action.
On behalf of all of us at the City of Fairfax Schools, we welcome you and your family, and we wish everyone a wonderful year ahead!
Sincerely,
Dan Phillips, Acting Superintendent
