Crews are conducting duct bank installation work on the bridge and on the intersection of Arlington Ridge Road and South Glebe Road, and work will last through early-mid September.
- Lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks will close on a rolling basis through the project area during the work day; pedestrian detours will be marked with signs
- All lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks will reopen at the end of the work day.
- After installation work is completed at the intersection of Arlington Ridge Road and South Glebe Road, the intersection will be repaved.
Starting the week of August 25, crews will demolish the median on the bridge, and work will last for about two weeks.
After median demolition is completed, crews will close the southbound side of the bridge for reconstruction, and all traffic will move to the northbound side. The sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will remain open. This work will take approximately five months as weather allows.
About the Project
This work is part of the Arlington Ridge Road/Mount Vernon Avenue Reconstruction Project to replace the roadway of the bridge between Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. During construction lanes will be reduced to allow crews to work safely and trail access may detour temporarily as needed.
