Kemi Badenoch has written to all Tory-controlled councils to tell them she will support any legal moves to evict asylum seekers
from hotels in their area. She said a temporary injunction blocking migrants from living at the Bell Hotel in Epping in Essex was a "victory for local people". Labour called her letter "hypocritical nonsense" and said that 20,000 fewer migrants were in hotels than at the peak when her party was in power. Some other councils, including Labour-led authorities, are also considering taking court action, which, as our home and legal correspondent Dominic Casciani explains, is causing concern at the Home Office.
