Today, in an exclusive excerpt from her upcoming memoir, Winner rather shrewdly observes that, like a lot of criminal behavior in American life, there’s a two-tiered justice system for leakers. “If you read newspapers or watch the news regularly, you’ll notice that the stories often include anonymous or background quotations from high-level officials in the United States government, who are revealing information they are not supposed to give to journalists, who are not supposed to have it,” Winner writes in a piece that may reframe some things for regular readers of the news.
