What's the story? Six people are dead after Israel struck a building in the Qatari capital Doha. The Israeli government says those targeted were senior members of Hamas's leadership, but the Palestinian militant group says those killed were lower-ranking.

Global reaction has been swift. Many of Israel's and Qatar's neighbours are condemning the strike . Describing it as an "unfortunate incident", US President Donald Trump says the attack "does not advance Israel or America's goals". They are unusually critical words of Israel from an American president.
