Cloudy, few sprinkles possible today before sun returns tomorrow |
It’s been a pitched battle with the shower threat today. Yesterday, it seemed like no one would get a shot at any wet weather. Then last night the tables turned, and it looked like the Cape/Islands would get doused while the rest of us see a few passing sprinkles. Guidance has struggled with the system offshore that is spawning these showers, so it’s no wonder we’re playing these games. Our final answer is that we’ll all be under a thick clouds deck — with northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire having the best shot at some splashes of sun — and there may be a few spritzes of rain just about anywhere from Cape Ann to Cape Cod. Some may even sneak through MetroWest, but that chance is smaller. |

We took a closer look at why the numbers here are so high, and what Massport says they’re doing about it. |

Salem is gearing up for the spooky season rush |
The city of Salem, Massachusetts, is gearing up for its busiest time of year. Bursting with historic charm, the city is known for the Salem Witch Trials and draws massive crowds during Halloween and the weeks leading up – sometimes seeing more than a million visitors. Officials are expecting a record-breaking year, preparing for around 100,000 people on busy days. While visitors are welcome, leaders are already urging people to plan to use public transit to reach downtown. There are just 4,000 public parking spaces, and there will be various road closures for the city’s annual “Haunted Happenings.” Events kick off at the end of September. |
