Patriots linebacker Harold Landry was feeling upbeat about the team’s defensive effort in Sunday’s 20-13 loss to the Raiders. The defense did allow 389 yards and had trouble making stops in the second half, but it still compiled four sacks and a turnover and kept the Patriots in the game.
“We all know on the defensive side of the ball, the sky’s the limit for us,” Landry said afterward. “You can easily tell that we have so much potential on that side of the ball. We just have to be more consistent, snap in, snap out, have no lapses.”
Everything Landry said is on point. Yes, you can tell the Patriots’ defense has a lot of potential, especially when No. 1 cornerback Christian Gonzalez comes back from his hamstring injury.
And yes, the Patriots had several unexpected struggles Sunday on the defensive side that cost them the game.
