One of our most well-read stories last week looked at the future of the La Loma franchise following a divorce that split the restaurants in half. The La Loma in downtown Denver, near the Brown Palace Hotel, will now be known as Savina's Mexican Kitchen. Meanwhile, a newer location in McGregor Square will retain the name La Loma. If you want to catch up on the whole saga, read below and listen to the latest episode of City Cast Denver. Host Bree Davies and I chat about it and our own green chile histories.

Grilled octopus tentacles in dish

La Rocca Rossa

Up for some adventurous dining in the foothills? Chef Rand G. Parker is turning up the flames at La Rocca Rossa, the newest restaurant in Morrison's historical district. Roasted rabbit pappardelle, braised bison short rib and Hokkaido sea scallops (with a side of gnocchi) are on the menu, but what drew my eye was the citronel herb grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes. The small tentacles were chewy inside but expertly grilled to crisp the outer skin. The romesco sauce or Italian salsa verde underneath it add depth and tanginess. La Rocca Rossa is a classy, cozy restaurant whose charm will likely only grow in the colder months.
