| | Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at least three Russian drones were shot down. Credit: Reuters | Poland has experienced several violations of its airspace since neighbouring Ukraine was attacked by Russia in February 2022. However, this latest incursion - sizeable, and deep into Polish territory - sparked real nervousness in Warsaw, writes Laura Gozzi. Russia said that "no objects on Polish territory were planned to be targeted," but experts and analysts are divided over Moscow's motivations. The US reaction will be closely followed. | | There are now military checkpoints across the capital, where officers are checking the IDs of any vehicles passing through. One of the few sounds is their voices blaring through a loudspeaker, calling for people to stay at home.
Still, there are some young people out on the streets, carrying bin liners and wearing masks, cleaning up the damage caused by the protests. Among them is Ksang Lama, 14, who didn't attend the protests. "This corruption thing has been in Nepal since a very, very long time, and I think it is high time that the nation needs to change," she says. |
