The shooter who killed MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk on a Utah university campus fired a single bullet from a nearby rooftop before evading capture by fleeing into an adjacent neighbourhood, police said Thursday.

The day after Mr. Kirk was gunned down at a public event at Utah Valley University in the Salt Lake City suburb of Orem, authorities were still hunting for his killer.

At a news conference, Beau Mason of the Utah Department of Public Safety said police were trying to identify the shooter using video. He said they were using technological tools to do this and would only release the footage publicly if they were unable to identify the suspect themselves.

“We will catch this individual,” he vowed.
