No images? Click here ![]() ![]() Hi, dupa, I asked genetics pioneer George Church recently if he’d been surprised by any of the advances we’ve seen in biotech in recent decades. His reply: “I’m rarely surprised, my head just goes in all different directions.” Those directions have included xenotransplantation, anti-aging tech and on to de-extinction research. He went on to discuss 3D printing of mice. And that just barely scratches the surface for someone whose lab has spawned 48 biotechs, by Church’s exact count. It was a fascinating conversation; a springboard to our fireside chat on September 18, when we’ll be celebrating the Endpoints 11, our annual list of promising biotechs that deserve to be watched closely. Endpoints 11 gala details Limited seats for in-person Church’s lab occupies a space way out on the cutting edge, where we often find our shortlist of companies for consideration. So it’s fitting that eGenesis, his xenotransplantation enterprise, was selected for the E11 back in 2021. Every year, the Endpoints 11 event is the most fun I have in biotech. It’s tough starting a biotech any year. I think we can all agree that it’s never been more challenging running one. So taking an evening to cheer on the standouts and recognize their achievements is an opportunity for everyone to participate in the celebration. Please join me, executive editor Drew Armstrong and the full Endpoints 11 editorial team at The State Room in Boston for the awards programs. I had to skip last year, but the biopharma advances of the past 15 years have made it possible for me to make my own comeback. The companies we’re recognizing September 18 may well make the same difference for many others in the years to come. You can get your tickets below, or sign up for the live streaming event if you can’t make it to mix with the winners. If you can make it, come by and say hello to the team.
