A Haitian man charged with raping a 15-year-old girl last year at a hotel serving as an emergency shelter for migrant families in Rockland, Massachusetts, has been found guilty following a four-day trial in Plymouth Superior Court. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced Friday that jurors deliberated for a little more than five hours before finding Cory B. Alvarez guilty of one count each of aggravated rape of a child with 10-year age difference. “The jury has spoken, and we thank them for their time and due diligence in finding Cory Alvarez guilty,” Cruz said in a statement. “This difficult case has always been about going forward to seek justice on behalf of this child victim. I am grateful that we were able to have this case tried on the merits, and the jury ultimately reached their unanimous conclusion.” |

| Teen suspected of planning Cape Cod school shooting facing charges, DA says |
A teenager was arrested Thursday on suspicion he was planning a shooting at a Cape Cod school, authorities said. The 18-year-old, Ian Fotheringham, was found with a 3D printer that can produce a firearm, and had images of the deadly Columbine High School shooting on his phone, the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office said Friday. A search of his Falmouth home in August — prompted by a tip that he wanted to enact a school shooting — had found no illegal guns. Fotheringham faced a charge of threatened use of a deadly weapon in a public building in Barnstable District Court on Friday and was ordered held until a dangerousness hearing Tuesday, prosecutors said. It wasn’t immediately clear if Fotheringham had an attorney who could speak to the charge. |

Marathon bombing FBI investigator sees parallels with Charlie Kirk shooting probe |
The Charlie Kirk murder investigation had a big break, leading to an arrest on Thursday. The early stages of the case have some striking similarities to the Boston Marathon bombing investigation, according to a former agent who worked on the Massachusetts manhunt. Soon after the chaotic Boston bombing scene developed – it quickly turned into a massive manhunt just like the murder of Charlie Kirk in Utah. Former FBI Boston Special Agent in Charge Rick DesLauriers says both cases involved labor-intensive scanning of surveillance video. |

Brian Walshe, charged in wife's murder, stabbed in Norfolk County Jail: source |
Brian Walshe, scheduled to stand trial next month for the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, was reportedly stabbed in Norfolk County Jail in Dedham, Massachusetts, on Thursday night. He was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment of a superficial injury, where he was treated and released, according to a law enforcement source close to the investigation. He is now back at the jail. Though they didn’t name Walshe, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying that “an individual in custody” at the Norfolk County Jail was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being assaulted inside one of the facility’s housing units around 9:55 p.m. Thursday. |
