| | Good morning, Chicago. Ben Johnson’s return to Ford Field served as a reminder of which team won the NFC North the last two years. The Lions were dominant in a 52-21 win over the Bears. Quarterback Jared Goff threw five touchdown passes and the Lions racked up 511 yards of offense in a convincing win. Goff finished with 334 yards on 23-for-28 passing. The
Lions improved to 1-1, while the Bears fell to 0-2. Sunday’s game marked the first time the Bears allowed 50 or more points since 2014, when the Patriots and Packers hung 50-plus on them in back-to-back games. At one point in the first half, after the Lions picked off Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, the Lions defense reenacted Johnson’s famed “Stumblebum” play in celebration. It was that kind of day for Johnson’s Bears. Williams led three scoring drives, throwing for 207 yards with two touchdown passes to Rome Odunze and
an interception on 19-for-30 passing. But overall the offense failed to sustain possessions. The Bears lost cornerback Jaylon Johnson (groin) and linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring) to injuries during the game. Stay connected with us all day: Sign up for our newsletters to get the latest news in your inbox.
