Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Big To-Do: Short Cuts, our midweek round-up of what’s going on around Boston, as selected by Boston Globe critics and writers.

Thursday

  • Jude Law and Jason Bateman team up for “Black Rabbit,” a new limited series releasing on Netflix.

  • Blending musical, romance, and road trip movie elements, the new flick “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” starring Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, arrives in theaters.

  • An adaptation of Massachusetts writer Ben Shattuck’s story collection of the same name, “The History of Sound,” hits the big screen in Boston this weekend.

Friday

  • Fresh off his VMA tribute to Ozzy Osbourne earlier this month, pop-punk singer YUNGBLUD stops at Roadrunner.

  • Jacques Cabaret presents hosts a special comedy night, hosted by Amanda Cee and Mitzzy Anne Picardo and headlined by Boston comic Sarah May.

  • Catch Kristina Wong’s musical comedy about the emergency food system, “Food Bank Influencer,” runs at the Emerson Paramount Center Friday through Sunday.

Saturday

  • Stream the last night of Bad Bunny’s concert residency in Puerto Rico live on Prime Video, Amazon Music, or Twitch.

  • A Bay State delicacy, celebrate the beloved marshmallow spread at the annual Fluff Festival in Somerville, which turns 20 this year.

  • As Quincy toasts to its 400th birthday, the city celebrates with a free hot air balloon and laser light show at Merrymount Park.




Sunday

  • Pop singer MARINA’s tour makes a stop in Boston at Roadrunner.

  • Get ready for another season of the hit crime drama “Tulsa King,” starring Sylvester Stallone, premiering on Paramount+.

Ongoing

  • Head out to Western Massachusetts for this year’s Big E extravaganza, which takes over West Springfield through Sept. 28.

  • Presented by SpeakEasy Stage Company, the Pulitzer-winning drama “Primary Trust” continues at the Calderwood Pavilion’s Roberts Studio Theatre through Oct. 11.


Last Chance

  • Broadway In Boston’s production of the “Mrs. Doubtfire” musical concludes its run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre on Sunday.
