Help Make Streets and Sidewalks Safer in Fairfax City

Attend the Move Fairfax City Open House, Oct. 8

You are invited to attend the Move Fairfax City open house from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. Move Fairfax City is an initiative to improve transportation safety and walkability throughout Fairfax City. Your participation at the open house and in the coming months will inform future planning decisions to create a safer, more connected, and walkable city.

Drop by the library to share feedback and learn about the three plans being developed in the Move Fairfax City initiative:

  • Citywide Safety Action Plan: The goal of the plan is to reduce deaths and serious injuries by improving roadway safety for all types of users.

  • Pedestrian Master Plan: The plan will prioritize recommendations that improve safety for pedestrians.

  • Old Town Fairfax Circulation Study: The study builds on recommendations in the Old Town Fairfax Small Area Plan. The study will look at alternative traffic circulation patterns, pedestrian improvements, and other potential changes. The project team will then recommend a preferred alternative for implementation.

You can also take a brief survey and leave comments on a map about your experiences walking, biking, driving, or taking the bus throughout the city and in Old Town Fairfax. To leave your feedback and learn more, visit engage.fairfaxva.gov/move-fairfax-city.

The city was awarded funding for Move Fairfax City through a federal Safe Streets for All grant. The Fairfax City Council appointed an advisory committee to help guide the initiative.
