As the threat of government censorship continues to grow across the country, we talked with a group of publishing professionals who are joining forces to emphasize the industry’s role in fighting book bans and protecting free speech. Bookshop.org has officially launched sales of e-books in the U.K.— and just in time for the online bookselling platform’s fifth anniversary. In our spotlight on the Canadian book business, we checked in with Canadian publishers who are feeling the financial consequences of book bans in the U.S., as well as the booksellers along the border who have been impacted by the Trump administration’s aggression toward our neighbor to the north. A Florida judge has ruled that the Escambia County school board’s removal of the picture book And Tango Makes Three did not violate the First Amendment rights of students or authors, reports the New York Times.
