Dear Families,
We are excited to share that Mason Crest has earned the prestigious Virginia Department of Education Purple Star Designation for the 2025-2026 school year. This recognition is given to schools for their commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. We are honored to receive the Purple Star Award.
As a staff, we are thankful for our military families for their sacrifice and service to our country.
Thank you,
Mr. Aiello, Ms. Conroy and Ms. Shin

Book Character Day: October 31
The Mason Crest tradition of dressing up like our favorite book characters continues this year. Students may dress up on Friday, October 31, like a book character of their choice. Please remind your students that they may not wear any masks that cover their entire faces or wear any costumes that might scare our younger students. It is also the end of the 1st quarter so students will be dismissed two hours early at 2:00 p.m.

Community Meeting: Full-Time AAP Center at Poe Middle School
FCPS is proposing to open a new Full-Time Advanced Academic Program Center at Poe Middle School in the Annandale Pyramid. If approved by the School Board, the proposal will allow students whose base middle school is either Poe or Holmes Middle School to remain in the Annandale Pyramid for Full-Time AAP.
Two meetings will be held for interested families to learn more about the proposal, understand potential impacts, and provide feedback:
- Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Both meetings will be held at Poe Middle School in the Library.
Registration is available but not required, and it will greatly assist us with planning. To help us better accommodate individual needs, please RSVP using this form and indicate if you plan to attend in-person or virtually and whether you require interpretation services.
