NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
For much of the higher education sector, this year has been defined by threats to federal research funding via the Trump administration's playbook of cutting vast sums of colleges’ grants and contracts before demanding sweeping policy changes.
So far, at least three colleges — each high profile and extremely wealthy — have struck deals with the Trump administration. Others, like Harvard University, have thus far resisted compromises with the federal government.
That could change in the future. The Trump administration's latest tactic is to offer colleges priority for federal research grants in exchange for adopting policies favored by the government. The majority of the nine institutions initially offered that deal have rejected it, but President Donald Trump has appeared to open the pact to any interested college.
Below, we’re debuting our new tracker to keep tabs on the deals the Trump administration has struck with colleges. We’ll update it with new developments as they happen.
We hope you find the tracker useful and look forward to hearing your feedback.
As always, thanks for reading,
