Lost and Found
The lost and found will be cleared out on October 31! All coats in the lost and found then will be donated to our school's coat drive. Other items will be donated to organizations across Northern Virginia!
Kiss and Ride- No, Really! This is SO IMPORTANT!!!!
You may have noticed slower traffic during drop off and pick up since the police officers who used to direct cars and buses are no longer there. We can all do our part to help things run as smoothly as possible!
If you utilize kiss and ride OR you find yourselves driving in the neighborhood from 820-9am and 315-350pm, please refer to these maps as a reminder!
Cars should ENTER using Dean or Van Fleet Drive - and EXIT via Lumsden Street. This will help alleviate any major traffic jams.
Please also be mindful of the buses, and refrain from parking too close to our neighbors driveways and stop signs!
When inside the school zone, remember to follow instructions from staff!

#4 News from Your PTA
Annual Giving Update
Because of your generosity, the Annual Giving Campaign has exceeded $50,000! AMAZING!!!
The reusable grocery bags have been distributed! If you haven't received yours check with your child (mine thought it was for her to tote things around). If your child is confused, reach out to Tracy!
Attend a PTA Meeting
OUR NEXT PTA MEETING WILL BE: October 24 at 845am in the Cafeteria. Mary Wilcox Smith, author, parenting coach, and speaker will join us at the end of the meeting for an opportunity to dig into what it means to be a parent right now.
Parenting today can feel like a nonstop pressure cooker—juggling expectations, schedules, and the constant urge to get it “right.” But what truly shapes our kids isn’t the big achievements or sparkly milestones—it’s the small, ordinary moments. The ones no one’s counting. The ones that shape our kids just as much—if not more.
Parenting expert and local author Mary Willcox Smith will join us after the PTA meeting for a presentation that blends humor, science, and real-life stories to reveal how small moments can have a big impact—strengthening connection, cooperation, and confidence at home. You’ll leave with simple, do-able shifts that make a lasting difference in your family dynamic—and your child’s adaptability, resilience, and happiness.
All parents and caregivers are welcome!
If you’d like to read ahead, you can purchase Mary’s book here or pick up a copy at the event.

Do you love creating order? Does your spirit soar when you are alphabetizing books on shelves? Do you LOVE the Dewey Decimal System? Or maybe spending time around books just fills your cup? Food Bus Volunteers- KGES's Food Rescue Program

Do you have 30 minutes to spare on a Friday afternoon? Help us make a difference by delivering rescued food to the SHARE of McLean Food Pantry at McLean Baptist Church.
The KG PTA proudly supports the Food Bus program, which encourages students to place unopened, packaged food and whole fruits in a designated fridge instead of throwing them away after lunch. Each week, we collect 15–25 pounds of fresh, healthy food—saved by our students—that parent volunteers deliver to SHARE for weekend distribution to local families in need.
It’s a simple act with a big impact—and we need your help to keep it going!
Sign up HERE or email Rebecca (beccadw@gmail.com) or Lana (lanavu@gmail.com)
Middle and high school students can earn service hours too!
