Dear Mighty Red Bird Families, 

This week, we were honored to welcome Dr. Reid, our Superintendent, to Cardinal Forest! She was greeted by two of our student ambassadors, Charles and Veera, and enjoyed visiting classrooms where she saw students deeply engaged in learning and collaboration. Dr. Reid’s visit was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the joyful learning, inclusion, and intentional teaching that make Cardinal Forest such a special place. We are so proud of our students and staff for creating such a vibrant, caring community that reflects the very best of Cardinal Forest.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for the fabulous Fall Sprinkle and for transforming our teacher’s lounge into the cozy Starbirds Cafe! Our staff felt so appreciated and celebrated!

We are also both excited and incredibly honored to announce that the Virginia Council on the Educational Opportunity for Military Children voted on October 1st to approve Cardinal Forest Elementary School as a recipient of the SY2025–2026 Purple Star 2nd Award!

The Virginia Purple Star Designation is a distinguished recognition awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major and ongoing commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Cardinal Forest first received this designation in 2022, and this renewed award marks our continued commitment to supporting our military-connected families for another three years. We are grateful for this honor!
