New hope for unsolved murder: A childhood friend of a teenager murdered 28 years ago near Brooms Head hopes a new inquiry will encourage people to come forward with information about the death. Lee Ellen Stace (pictured above) was 16 when she was killed on her way home from her job at a Yamba supermarket in 1997. The murder case remains unsolved. Terri Blackwell says finding the person who killed her friend would be life changing.

Three injured in Alstonville crash: Police are investigating the cause of a head-on crash near Alstonville that left three people in hospital with serious injuries. Police say two cars crashed about 5:30pm on Friday after items fell from a trailer on the Bruxner Highway.
Broken Head surf accident: A surfer aged in his 40s was flown to a Gold Coast hospital with suspected spinal injuries after an incident at Broken Head on Sunday. It's believed the man was injured after he fell from his surfboard about 8:30am.
Rescue helicopter accusations: Allegations of unsafe work practices at the Northern Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service are concerning, NSW Health Minister Ryan Park says. His comment comes after 12 employees wrote a joint letter raising allegations of bullying, victimisation and sexual harassment as detailed to the Nine Network and Sydney Morning Herald. The minister says contracts with NSW Health are subject to stringent policies and processes and urges rescue helicopter staff who have complaints to contact SafeWork NSW. In a statement to ABC North Coast, the rescue helicopter service's chief executive Steven Underwood denied there are ongoing safety risks and cultural issues.
