Our clocks changed, our meetings shifted, but content still got updated. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Spooky Time Changes...

For those of us that live a long way from the equator, twice a year we run through the rigmarole of changing the time. It’s doubly weird here at Kodeco because Europe ends daylight saving / summertime at a different time to the US (well, the bits of the US that it affects). So twice a year, for some indeterminate number of weeks, meetings move depending on what time zone they were booked in.

As developers, we believe a lot about time, that just isn’t true. We have a few older pieces of content that delve into handling time on iOS and Android, but nothing can ever prepare you for a meeting that changes time one week, and back the next…

October has seen a lot of updated content—specifically around our Apple Intelligence program. This the backbone of our live bootcamp, for which we have a cohort in full swing as we speak. However, our subscribers can access all the learning content as part of their subscription! Or, if you’d like a little more of the bootcamp experience, with homeworks, mentorship and a certificate, you can choose to sign up to an on-demand bootcamp.

If you’ve visited the site recently, you maybe saw that we had a banner up for our team and enterprise subscription. If you’re using Kodeco for work, then your company should be paying! I won’t bore you with the details here—but please take a look at our product details page, or reach out to Jeff to learn more. Enterprise subscriptions allow us to deliver all of the free content and features of the site, so I would love it if you could consider getting your team to reach out.

That’s quite enough from us—have a great month—we’ve got new content lined up (including books!) so enjoy!

Apple Intelligence

As mentioned above this whole program has been updated for iOS 26. While for most modules this means minimal changes, we've called out some modules with slightly bigger changes below.

This is the program that introduces many Apple Intelligence features, and how you can integrate them to your apps. You'll get to know how to leverage Apple's on-device Machine Learning models, how to integrate 3rd Party models like chatGPT and get a quick overview of the nearly-new Apple Intelligence tools.

Genmoji

While Genmoji for iOS developers has really not lived up to its promises, we have updated this module with workarounds and with how we think things will work once Apple gets it together from their side. Assuming they do.

Vision Framework

Newly added to the Vision framework in iOS 26 is a cool API that can further enhance reading structural elements from a page. This is a powerful new addition to what is already a framework that would have been seen as magical just 10 years ago.

We have a whole lesson in this module on what is new in iOS 18 and iOS 26 — so if you are familiar with the Vision Framework already, you can jump straight into the new bits.

Apple Foundation Models

In case you missed it, we released a brand new module covering Apple's new Foundation Models. This new framework gives you a really powerful interface to the on-device AI models that underpin all of Apple Intelligence. This approach prioritises privacy and responsiveness, while allowing you to build AI-enchanced apps.

Discover how to build an on-device SwiftUI chat app, how to connect and drive external tools, and apply built-in guardrails. It's the perfect starting point for bringing Apple Intelligence into your app.

App Observability

Outside of the world of Apple Intelligence we've got a brand new module on a core competency of good app hygiene—realtime app performance monitoring.

We often end up retrofitting app observability when users complain about sluggish or buggy apps, or we slot in a potentially expensive 3rd-party tool. This module will explain how OpenTelemetry works, and how to integrate it into your app. Even if you opt for a 3rd-party tool, understanding how it works is extremely beneficial.
