Good afternoon. It’s Friday, Nov. 7.

In today's newsletter:

  • Alaska Airlines said it will work to rebook passengers or provide refunds for canceled flights after the FAA called for a reduction in air traffic at airports across the country starting today.

  • A group seeking to repeal Alaska’s ranked choice voting and open primary system says it has gathered enough signatures to put the question on the 2026 ballot.

  • The Anchorage Police Department is mounting a criminal investigation into what it says was the illegal release of confidential internal affairs information.

Without action from Congress before the end of the year, thousands of Alaskans could soon see skyrocketing premiums for health insurance through federal exchange. We're hoping to hear from residents about this. Do you purchase health insurance through the federal exchange? If so, how are you preparing for changes in the cost of health care? You can get in touch with us using this form.

Anchorage weather

After last night's storm that dumped more than 6 inches of snow on Anchorage, we should see mostly cloudy skies today with a high around 32 degrees. Looking ahead to the weekend, we can expect partly to mostly sunny skies, and daytime highs hovering in the low 30s.

Here’s what else is making headlines in Alaska today.
