 Centreville Students, Families, and Community,
I am thrilled to begin by congratulating Theatre Centreville for their outstanding production of Annie last weekend. The performance showcased the incredible talent of our students and was a true testament to the collaboration within our performing arts department, with our orchestra students performing a live pit, and to the strength of our pyramid as students from our feeder elementary and middle schools joined the cast. A heartfelt thank-you goes to Mr. McGee, our Theatre Director, Dr. Taylor, our Orchestra Director, and Ms. Kraft, our Choral Director, for their dedication and hard work in bringing this wonderful show to life.
I would also like to congratulate our Wildcat Football team on their victory over Marshall High School on Friday. The team will face Madison High School this upcoming Friday in the Region Semifinals. As a reminder, the enhanced security measures implemented at last week’s game will continue throughout the playoff season for the safety of all students, families, and community members.
Additionally, I want to remind everyone that Superintendent Dr. Reid will be joining our PTSA meeting on Tuesday, November 18th to share updates regarding the upcoming renovation of Centreville High School. This meeting is open to all current and future Wildcat families, as these renovations will impact students currently in our elementary and middle schools who will attend Centreville in the coming years.
Lastly, I am excited to highlight an important opportunity for our juniors and seniors to register for the ASVAB assessment. This career-focused assessment provides valuable insights into students’ skills and supports exploration of future career pathways. Students who earn a qualifying score will also receive distinguished honors at graduation. More information and the registration form can be found below.
Thank you and Go Wildcats!

Lightspeed Parent Portal Allows Parents to Manage Student Screen Time
FCPS has introduced new parent controls in the Lightspeed Parent Portal to help families manage screen time on FCPS-issued devices. Through the portal, parents can control their child's access to YouTube and pause web browsing during designated After-School Hours while students are off the FCPS network.
These controls are active Monday - Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:00 AM (even on student holidays) and all day Saturday and Sunday. They do not affect district filtering policies during the instructional day.
Parents can register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal using the link provided in their weekly Lightspeed Online Student Activity Report email.
For more information about the Parent Portal, please visit the Lightspeed Parent Portal page on the FCPS website.

Students and families will be able to have conversations with teachers from each department about the course offerings so students can make the most informed decisions about their course selections for 2026-2027.
