Amazon has expanded its same-day delivery service for perishable groceries to more than 2,300 communities, more than doubling the reach of the service since its August launch. The company is on track to continue expanding the service into new markets through next year, allowing customers in both major cities and smaller markets to access fresh grocery delivery within hours.

Amazon plans to expand the use of Trane Technologies' BrainBox AI tool to more than 30 grocery fulfillment centers and stores after a pilot program at three facilities resulted in a nearly 15% reduction in energy use. The tool reduces carbon emissions and cuts energy by working autonomously with Amazon Web Services to adjust temperature control and ventilation systems.

Walmart is deepening its partnership with Alquist 3D after the construction company successfully completed an 8,000-square-foot, 3D-printed area for pickup and delivery services at Walmart's Athens, Tenn., store -- a project that resulted in the largest 3D-printed commercial structure in the US. Walmart has committed to working with Alquist to construct more than 12 new buildings using 3D printing technology.

Target has remodeled its 26,000-square-foot store in New York City's SoHo neighborhood where special attention is placed on the beauty department with dedicated pavilions and collaborations with celebrity makeup artists. The store features rotating displays such as "The Drop," curated by celebrities and influencers, and a "Beauty Bar" for social media engagement.

Online grocery sales rose 29% in November 2025 from a year earlier, reaching $12.3 billion, according to Brick Meets Click and Mercatus. The growth was driven by a 12% increase in order frequency and higher spending rates, with ship-to-home sales up 12%, pickup up 11% and delivery up 8%. The average order value increased 11%.

My grandfather was a row crop farmer in Buckley, Ill., a town of only 500 people, and I spent the first 18 summers of my life there, so attending the Field to Market Fall Meeting and the Sustainable Ag Summit in Anaheim this year resonated with me on a personal level.
