BNEF: Global battery prices to drop by 3% in 2026
Battery prices are expected to decrease by 3% next year to $105 per kilowatt-hour, driven by increased manufacturing capacity in China, competition and a shift to lithium-iron phosphate technology, according to a survey from BloombergNEF. This drop follows an 8% decrease this year despite rising raw material costs. "This is an important moment for the industry, as record-low battery prices create an opportunity to lower EV costs and accelerate the deployment of grid-scale storage to support renewables integration around the world," says BNEF's Evelina Stoikou.

Remote assistance serves as a backup for AVs, while remote driving allows full control of vehicles from a distance. German company Vay Technology exemplifies the potential of remote driving. Its teledriving platform allows trained operators to control vehicles remotely from dedicated stations and has demonstrated rapid growth, particularly in Las Vegas, where Vay completed over 17,000 trips by mid-2025, mostly for remote driving of rental cars.
