Receiving prohibition clearances by email

Receiving prohibition clearances by email

From 2 February 2026, you'll receive your prohibition clearance notice called a PG10, automatically by email within 24 hours of your vehicle passing its prohibition clearance test. The email will be sent directly to the operator whose email address linked to the vehicle on the Vehicle Operator Licencing (VOL) system.

This will help save time for our colleagues, align with our sustainability goals and brings heavy vehicle clearances in line with the existing prohibition clearance process for light vehicles.

If the prohibition has been issued by the police instead of DVSA, the Vehicle Standards Assessor (VSA) will still issue you with a PG10 prohibition clearance notice.
