Office of the Spokesperson

Senior Bureau Official for Political-Military Affairs Fleet White welcomed Vice Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang in Washington, D.C., December 18, 2025, to discuss security cooperation and regional security challenges at the fourteenth U.S.-Vietnam Political, Security, and Defense Dialogue.

The U.S. delegation, which also included representatives from the Department’s Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, as well as senior officials from the Department of War, built on the success of our previous dialogue in 2024, as well the Vietnam-U.S. Defense Policy Dialogue held in Hanoi earlier this year.  These productive talks further promoted the robust and growing bilateral relationship between the United States and Vietnam and reflected America’s commitment to building alliances and strengthening partnerships in a free and open Indo-Pacific region that will be the bedrock of security and prosperity.
