This month, crews will be present on the Mount Vernon Trail near the 14th Street Bridge to remove shrubs and trees ahead of construction for the Long Bridge Project by the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA).
Construction activities will require brief, intermittent stoppages (up to 5 minutes) on the Mt. Vernon Trail as equipment and construction materials cross. Flaggers will be present at all times to ensure safety of all trail users.
This work is anticipated to be completed by early January, before proceeding into preparing the site for construction.
To learn more about this project, visit the VPRA's Long Bridge Project page.

In fact, you can even practice during the last days of 2025!
Here's How:
When you see cones or crews on the road, slow down!
