This week's recipe: Turkey crown and gravy
 
 

A turkey crown is incredibly handy and easy to serve roast for Christmas dinner. They suit small gatherings and even big gatherings with multiple mains on offer, like roast beef.

Smaller and faster to cook, they are entirely made of turkey breast but contain enough meat to feed as many as 10 people.

One recipe to consider this year is Mary Berry's heavenly scented orange and thyme roast turkey crown. The recipe notes hail it a "wonderful option" for Christmas, adding: "Mary Berry's turkey crown recipe is deliciously flavoured with orange and thyme and made in 10 easy steps."

This recipe takes less than 30 mins to prepare and about two hours to cook. It serves eight to 10 people, making it the perfect option for Christmas Day.

Ingredients

2.2kg/4lb 14oz turkey crown

Two tsp chopped thyme leaves

50g/1¾oz butter, softened

Two small oranges, one thinly sliced, one cut in half

One to two tbsp vegetable oil 

Three tbsp plain flour

Six tbsp port

450ml/¾ pint hot turkey or chicken stock

A splash of Worcestershire sauce

Two tbsp soy sauce
